marriage n. Formerly, a lifelong contract for love, companionship, and mutual benefit between two parties of opposite sexes. Presently, a socially acceptable agreement by two parties to share bed and board until they tire of each other's company.

Presently, any object, not necessarily old, for which people will pay large sums of money on the expectation that they will in turn be able to sell it for a profit after having kept it in a closet for a few years.
